The beginning...

It has finally happened. We have succumbed to the blogging world and though with our heels dug in the dirt....we are now bloggers. The goal is to actually use it more than we have used our informative site with Our Groups Online to update all that care to know how life in the leafy tree tops is going.

Thus, I shall begin what could pose to be a not so interesting look into our lives here in Sugar Grove, North Carolina....which will from now on be lovingly referred to as Hippieville, USA.

Since biological creation has evaded Andrew and I, we have dogs. They might as well be our children for the time being because we must plan our lives around them. Prior to moving to Hippieville, USA, we had our one lone pup...Chaco. He is a striking boxer/lab mix of 2 years. We felt that after having the opportunity of a lifetime (which would be having my father to play with for a year) that moving him half way across the country without a friend would be lonely. This being the case, we decided to adopt a beautiful siberian husky puppy that we named Emma.

I would love to say that Chaco and Emma were fast pals but alas, that was not the case. It took a fair amount of time for Chaco to become accustomed to the newest member of the family and to stop trying to rid himself of her. To be fair, Emma took it all in stride for approximately 4 days before she decided to start showing her true warrior colors. Now it is Emma who initiates the "Lion King Battles" (as we lovingly refer to them as) that take place on a daily basis. Ahh the memories of dressing my brother up in Martial Arts gear so that we could go 12 rounds (or however many he would last) as a kid. Fun times. The good news is that the daily battles are more an excercise regime and less trying to kill each other.

They are both wonderful and we love them dearly. I would be lying if I said that Emma was a walk in the park when it came to training like Chaco was. Instead, the best way to describe her would be to list what my family lovingly called her after her brief stay with them at Christmas, Short Bus. Truth be told, she is still alive because she's cute.
